Screw pile foundations for Sign post in Area 6

FLI Structures, leaders in the design and manufacture of screw pile foundations are pleased to announce a new contract award to supply screw piles foundations for passively safe sign posts to Atkins in Area 6.

The contract is to supply 14 screw pile foundations for Highways Signs with each site varying in topography and supporting passively safe Lattix masts.  Each foundation can be installed within a single shift, which helps reduce traffic management and increases journey time reliability for the road user.  The signs are up to 23 metre square in size, with foundations designed to include a maximum of 4 screw piles and an associated steel interface grillage.  FLI Highway Sales Manager Tony Parker says, "FLI's new screw pile foundation solution for Highways signage provides contractors with a solution that is both quick to install and cost effective when compared to other traditional foundation solutions.  The trend away from traditional concrete foundations, towards FLI screw piles as an industry standard is becoming more evident as increasing number of designers and contractors specify their use".

The benefits of using FLI Screw Piles on site include the speed at which they can be installed; this saves time and money on the project. There are no excavations or spoil to cart away, saving money, particularly if there is contaminated ground. FLI Screw Piles are recyclable and can be removed and re-used easily. This will save time and money in the future. Finally, screw piles are a cost effective solution in soft ground, where traditional piling is more expensive and a concrete pad footing is technically unsuitable.

FLI are successfully designing helical pile solutions for a variety array of structures widely used by both Network Rail and Highways Agency, including portal gantries, cantilever gantries, signs, platforms, OLE masts, CCTV structures, etc.  Tony Parker, comments "Our success is based on understanding and solving site problems efficiently, with safe solutions in mind for our installers.  With a strong focus on innovation, we are able to supply foundation solutions to support for a wide range of structures in both Railway & Highways markets.
