FLI Structures provide radar towers to the Military and Civil Aviation industries, installing them in some of the busiest airports across the globe.
Our radar towers can be found all over the world, including in the UK, Europe, Africa, South America, South East Asia and the Middle East. Our designs have to take account of extremely cold weather in countries such as Norway and also the effects of sand storms or coastal salt spray. In some countries, wind speeds are etremely high. The deflection and tortional rotation limits on these types of structures are very tight and the radar unit wind loads are high. Hence the frame of the equipment cabin below the radar pedestal, acts as a major structural element, transferring the radar loads to the tower. The tower itself is a relatively stiff stucture and usually comes with an internal staircase for maintenance.
The cabin is fully clad and fitted out to a high specification, sometimes requiring air conditioning, power and light.
Our range of radar towers includes a 3-sided parallel construction based around the FL300 & a 4-sided tapered one based on the TT40 both accessible by ladder. We also have the 'Watchman' tower, again based around the TT40, but it is fitted with an external staircase.
Recently, our ATS5350 has become our most popular radar product. It is a parallel angle tower with an internal staircase. The ATS5350 is an economic design, with a manufacturing process which is fully automated for speedy delivery and accuracy of manufacture.
