FLI Structures have a wide range of existing standard designs for all sectors. This is particularly true within Telecoms where our 60 year history was augmented recently by our acquisition of Alan Dick Towers and Masts. This means FLI hold the master designs for over half of the towers and masts in the UK. This substantial resource which enables our customers to buy or extend almost any Telecoms structure without unnecessary design fees.
We can also design bespoke solutions for specific requirements like climbing or radar towers.
Arguably, FLI’s greatest strength lies in our engineering design capability. The in-house design engineering and drawing office detailing teams are in the same building as the factory production office, project management and installation teams. This means that not only are designers able to produce bespoke designs to meet any customer's needs, they are able to design for manufacturing, logistical and installation efficiency. we have applied these skills to tree top walkways and architectural bridges.
Any structure originally supplied by FLI can be analysed for equipment upgrades or other requirement changes. We offer the same service for structures from other manufacturers, though obviously depending on the information available this can require a survey.
FLI Structures is accredited to work up to Execution Class 4. This means we are able to produce steel structures for extreme safety critical environments such as the Nuclear Island at nuclear power plants. (FLI is a 'Fit For Nuclear' company.)
The design work often focuses on developing leaner structures, more efficient functionality or solving particular problems on specific projects. Sometimes however our engineers work on more aesthetic projects like footbridges.
