Platforms
FLI Structures designs and supplies rapid-deployment platform systems, with all interfaces fully resolved in-house. Options include piled foundations, platform framing and flooring, or complete station platform systems.
The platform systems can be configured to accommodate ancillary items such as shelters, canopies, fencing, lighting columns and access points, all tailored to the client’s specification.

LOC Platforms
Low-cost, rapid-installation platform systems were developed by FLI Structures in partnership with Colas Rail under Network Rail’s Minimum Viable Product initiative.
The range includes off-the-shelf platform solutions featuring GRP flooring and handrails, mounted on a fully hand-carriable steel frame. These platforms are designed to interface with all foundation options, including FLI’s screw pile and kentledge plate foundation systems.

OLE Steelwork
FLI Structures has been supplying overhead line electrification (OLE) steelwork to rail projects of all sizes for over 15 years.
FLI delivered large volumes of OLE steelwork to the Greater West Project, including HEB and RHS mast types as well as gantry booms. This scope included mono anchor booms, F booms, Q booms, twin-track cantilevers and associated small-part steelwork.
FLI is certified to all relevant ISO standards. Welders are qualified in accordance with BS EN ISO 15614-1 and BS EN ISO 9606-1 procedures, with certification provided by UKAS, and fabrication carried out to Execution Class 4. A consistently low defect rate of just 0.01%, compared with an industry average of approximately 3%, ensures high-quality steelwork is delivered to site, supporting reliable programme delivery.

Railway Telecom Structures
Over 2,500 of FLI’s lattice towers and monopoles form the backbone of the GSM-R network. With engineering expertise drawn from a 70-year history in the telecoms sector, FLI owns a catalogue of Network Rail PADs-approved tower designs, along with RDS foundation solutions.
High-capacity lattice towers and monopoles are available for 5G antenna loading and multiple users. The latest tower ranges can be supplied with headframe options to suit specific antenna loading criteria. When integrated with RDS foundations, sites on embankments, in cuttings or on soft ground are feasible, with FLI providing the complete substructure and superstructure as a system to enable faster installation on the rail network.

REB platforms & foundations
REB platforms and foundations are available as standard or bespoke solutions, incorporating integrated cable management and offering more efficient footprints than consultancy-submitted designs.

Signalling structures
Gantries, staging platforms and signal posts are available as a full range of off-the-shelf designs installed across the UK. In addition, FLI Structures has the in-house capability to engineer, manufacture and install bespoke structures to address the specific challenges presented by individual sites and projects.

Flexi Pile-Cap
It is sometimes necessary to mount OLE (overhead line electrification) structures on circular piles that have been damaged during installation, are out of alignment, have refused before reaching full depth, are incorrectly positioned, or are required to bridge existing services.
The Flexi-Pile Cap provides a cut-and-drill solution that eliminates the need for hot works on site. A complete range of tabs and bridging beams is available to resolve a wide variety of installation challenges.
Flood Mitigation
With the environmental impacts of climate change becoming increasingly apparent, flood mitigation measures are being extended to areas previously considered low risk. Infrastructure resilience planning has evolved from accounting for 1-in-300-year events to 1-in-1,000-year events for the most critical installations.
In many cases, the most cost-effective solution is to mount structures on screw pile foundations. These deep foundations transfer loads well below the zone affected by scour and undermining, making them particularly well suited to the softer alluvial ground commonly found on floodplains and other low-lying areas. No flood walls, floodgates or concrete structures are required; instead, slightly longer piles are installed to project above ground level, elevating the superstructure safely above potential floodwater.
