FLIral...hand-carriable, low impact steel foundation for cabinets, staging and portable cabins.

The FLIral foundation system is designed for applications where minimal ground disturbance, controlled installation and efficient and fast deployment are key considerations. Engineered for medium duty applications, FLIral provides a practical, fast and simple alternative to traditional concrete foundations. Useful in constrained or conjested sites, as well as locations with poor access, FLIral does not require vehicular access or the repeated visits demanded by using concrete.
As well as speed, the system offers flexibility, with a range of interface plates to carry different assets and structures.

Patent No: GB2622912

  • Rapid installation

  • No concrete

  • No excavation

  • Hand carry components and tools

  • Permanent or temporary

  • Range of interface plates

  • Range of sizes and capacities

Performance is dependant on ground conditions, with options to increase the number of stakes on a hub, as well as the length of the stakes and the number of hubs.
The four stake hub illustrated offers compression from 20 - 50 kN with shear  -30kN.

Hand install foundation

Foundation installation with hand tools.

The hub is positioned, levelled and the stakes slotted in. The stakes are then driven in with a hand held post rammer, bolted to the hub and the chosen interface plate used to mount the asset.

Fast and simple foundations

Illustrated here, supporting a permanent cabin at a telecoms site.
With their off-the-shelf range of hub sizes and high tolerance interface plates for different applications, FLIral foundations are a  quick and straightforward, permanent or temporary alternative to traditional concrete or less robust stacking solutions.

Green Zone staging installation for rail

A hand-carry foundation installed with hand tools, combined with the FLI LOC platform which can also be hand-carried to site, piece small.
A fast, concrete free installation that requires no possession or plant.

Hand-carry kentledge plates

Individual plates, light enough to be carried by hand, are stacked over a central bolt to build gravity foundations for medium and light duty applications.
Shown here is the solution used for mounting repeater poles on the GSM-r network, along with an illustration of the same plates used for a single LOC platform.
As well as being suitable for sites with very restricted access and enabling Green Zone working, using kentledge foundations means that the ground is not pierced, which can be very helpful on congested sites with buried services and for temporary installations.

Hand-Install Screw Piles

Hand-carry and hand-install screw piles (also known as helical piles) and torque motors, enable plant free, fast installation of deep foundations for light and medium-weight assets on soft or sloping ground.

Information for Green Zone working.

Hand-install screw piling

  • Limited access
  • Green Zone working
  • Hand install deep foundations
  • Permanent or temporary
  • Steep slopes or soft ground
  • No concrete, so immediate loading

Limits on hand piling are dependant on local ground conditions, but typically allow piles with a shaft diameter up to 88.9mm, piling to a depth of 5m. This enables a large range of structures, staging, cabinets, signalling and signage to be installed very quickly without the need for plant on site.
FLI have installation teams but hand held torque motors are also available for hire from us, as well as training courses.
