FLI Lattice Towers & Transmission Steelwork.

For 70 years FLI has been designing, manufacturing and installing lattice towers and their steel foundations. Our experience includes the design of transmission pylon foundations, substation structures and high-voltage steelwork for major energy and infrastructure projects.

FLI supplies towers from the largest switch towers down to rooftop installations, into all the mobile phone networks, the emergency services network and GSM-R (the railway communication network). Radar towers for airports around the world, as well as for the MOD and meteorological masts for offshore sites. Gantries and gantry foundations for the rail and motorway networks.

We have been a framework supplier for Overhead Line Electrification into Network Rail programmes and supply steelwork to Hinkley Point C. We are experienced in producing the largest steel lattice towers and other structures of all sizes across all infrastructure markets.

Screw Pile Foundations For Pylons

Screw piles and micropiles are used around the world as a rapid deployment alternative to concrete transmission pylon foundations. Screw piles are particularly suitable for softer ground or sloping sites. Where there are site-specific environmental concerns, screw piling is fast, quiet and vibration-free.

There is no excavation, much less site traffic and reduced time on site, with the foundation and superstructure installed simultaneously. For information on screw piling for transmission pylons and other large structures, click here.

Network Rail OLE Framework Supply

FLI has been a framework supplier of Overhead Line Electrification steelwork to Network Rail, providing steelwork to various OLE projects across the UK, including Greater West, Greater Anglia and the GE Line and others.
With production lines and procedures tailored to programme delivery, FLI has the capacity to output 400 mast columns or 100 booms per month and our dedicated storage site allows customers to call off individual items as required.

Machinery For Efficient Pylon Manufacture

To work alongside our existing angle, beam, tube and plate lines, FLI now has the latest generation high-capacity CNC punching and shearing line for steel angle. Ideally suited to transmission pylon manufacture, this investment enables increased automation for the largest and most complex structures, improving efficiency and reducing prices.

Substations and Ancillary Structures

FLI has extensive experience creating foundations and staging for substations, power stations and trackside installations.

Our screw pile foundations offer a very cost-effective solution for the increasingly relevant issue of flood mitigation. Piles are extended to raise equipment above ground level. A simple, effective and low-cost approach for substations and similar installations in flood-prone areas.
