Hand-carry bridge kit, for remote locations and challenging access.

The Ranger Footbridge is ideal for locations that would be difficult to reach with pre-built structures. Every component, including the steel modules, are light enough to be carried to site by hand. If you can get a Landrover or a helicopter near to the location, you can build a Ranger Footbridge.

The bridge kits are available in various widths and with individual spans up to 24 metres.
All structural steel is galvanised for a 60 year life.
FLI's engineers can also prodide any foundation design required.

While the bridge kits are straightforward to install. FLI also has installation teams, which means we can offer a complete design, supply and install service.

Technical summary

The Standard Ranger Bridge comes in two module types (Type A & Type C), supplied across three deck widths (1.20m, 2.00m & 2.55m) with three live load cases (2.3, 3.2 & 5.0 kN/m²). The design standard used is BS5950-1:2000, and the deflection limit throughout is Span/200. All steelwork is galvanised to BSEN1461.

Specifying your Ranger Bridge

In general terms, Type A suits shorter crossings where lighter loads or tighter budgets apply, while Type C is suited to longer spans and heavier pedestrian or light traffic loading. Select your length, and width options from the standard range available, for either module type. Note, all Ranger Bridges, are rated to a maximum load capacity of 5.0 kN/m².

Type A Module

The Type A is the lighter of the two module types, with a bridge height of 1.78m. Maximum recommended spans are as follows:

1.20m wide — up to 16m in length, at 2.3 kN/m²
up to 15m in length at 3.2 kN/m²
up to 13m in length at 5.0 kN/m²

2.00m wide — up to 15m in length, at 2.3 kN/m²
up to 13m in length, at 3.2 kN/m²
up to 12m in length, at 5.0 kN/m²

2.55m wide — up to 15m in length, at 2.3 kN/m²
up to 14m in length, at 3.2 kN/m²
up to 12m in length, at 5.0 kN/m²

Type C Module

The Type C is the heavier-duty module, standing 1.99m tall with larger steel sections, capable of significantly longer spans:

1.20m wide — up to 26m in length, at 2.3 kN/m²
up to 24m in length, at 3.2 kN/m²
up to 20m in length, at 5.0 kN/m²

2.00m wide — up to 25m in length, at 2.3 kN/m²
up to 22m in length, at 3.2 kN/m²
up to 18m in length, at 5.0 kN/m².

2.55m wide — up to 26m in length, at 2.3 kN/m²
up to 23m in length, at 3.2 kN/m²
up to 19m in length, at 5.0 kN/m².
